Starman Africa - Carrying the jack-up platform Ursula  ~ 1983

Starman Africa successfully transported the jack-up platform Ursula owned by Zueblin AG from West Africa to Cuxhaven, Germany. The platform was used by Dyckerhoff & Widmann for harbour extension work in Lome, Togo and was to be prepared for new operations.
The discharge operations were completed by 7th June 1983, within a few hours by jacking up the platform with its hydraulic system, allowing the vessel to move out from underneath the platform.

The Starman Africa owned by Sloman Neptun Schiffahrts AG, Bremen was commercially operated, together with three other heavy lift vessels, by Starman  Shipping GmBh, Bremen. The four vessels were employed worldwide in the transportation of heavy cargoes, modules & project cargoes. The Starman fleet could handle loads up 800 tonnes and rolling loads of up to 1000 tonnes independent of port facilities.
