The Pacific Star in the picture above, had
discharged crude oil from the Persian Gulf, cleaned tanks & was outward bound
for Wellington with a cargo of Diesel Oil for Wellington.

Pacific Star was Blue Star Line's one and
only oil-tanker. However by the early 60's, with the Suez Canal being closed,
the days of the small oil tanker were numbered, with the demand being for
Supertankers.
