Originally built for the ACT service between Europe or the East Coast of North America and Australasia, with the demise of ACT she was taken in to the Blue Star fleet proper. Sold to P&O Nedlloyd along with Blue Star Line in 1998, she was operated by P&O Nedlloyd  retaining here original livery and name.

 
 

The Melbourne Star continued in service as one of the  last four remaining vessels to carry the Blue Star livery, all be it as part of the P&O Nedlloyd group.

 
She departed the Shanghai anchorage 11/02/2003 and was handed over to Chinese shipbreakers for demolition
