  Became: 1940 Poland for British Ministry of War Transport. This was before the "Empire" prefix had come into use.  
  Renamed: 1940 Empire Confidence, Royal Mail Line managers  
  Chartered: 1946 by M.O.W.T. to Alexandria S.N. Co. Ltd., London and renamed Star of El Nil  
  Replaced: 1948 by Star of Alexandria and laid up at Bidston Dock, Birkenhead  
  Moved: 1949 to the Clyde Estuary which was cheaper to await disposal
