BLUE STAR LINE POSTCARDS ~ Second Series

 

 

 

 

Canadian Star 2 at Vancouver

 

 

 

 

 

As you all will be aware if you have browsed Bluestarline.org recently, Wally Trickett of New Zealand has completed a Second Series of fine paintings of Blue Star vessels. These have now been printed as postcards and will go on sale the 31st March 2006 Sample images can be viewed at:

Painted by Wally Trickett who sailed as engineer with the company in the 1970's. Sold as a series of 12 cards measuring 15x10 cm each.

The ships to featured in the Second Series are Canadian Star (2), Andalucia Star (1), Argentina Star (1), South Africa Star, America Star (1), Auckland Star (2), Canberra Star, Scottish Star (2), Queensland Star, Sydney Star (1), Fremantle Star and Tuscan Star (1)

If you would like to order a set of these cards or sets, the cost is $NZ 35.00 for one set, $NZ 60.00 for two $NZ 85.00 for three (limit) costs include freight worldwide. Payment by cheque in New Zealand or bank order if overseas. Receipt sent with every order. Each set will be signed by the artist and numbered of a limited run.

Chance Meeting
 

While shopping in my local town centre (Hexham), I had chance meeting with a well known ex. Blue Star Line Engineer, Ritchie Dellow, who lives in nearby Allanheads.

His occupation as a Tax Inspector and the fresh air of Allanheads some 1000 ft. above sea level obviously has a restorative benefit!

Allanheads as with all the Allan Valley had an intensive industrial past, as it was rich in lead ore. An entertaining description can be found at:

  The World’s Largest Diesel Engine:  
 
 

 

The mind boggles at The Wärtsilä-Sulzer RTA96-C turbocharged 14 cylinder two-stroke diesel engine, of some 108,920 hp at 102 rpm. We thought we had some big lumps to look after! More details can be viewed at:
